In Search of Peace.

My world is no longer the innocent world of care-free tradition. Living a life predicated on a collective understanding of society, a life like everyone else is no longer possible. The reality I now live in seems foreign and I am unsure how to proceed. The things that formed the basis of my existence, family, society, and government, are being changed into different structures leaving me tottering, suffering vertigo, and afraid of the future.

This, to my detriment, has caused me to lose sight of God’s sovereignty. The world He created has not changed for Him, and therefore, my place in His world has not changed either.

Although circumstances which affect my reality are different today, what of my soul? Is it affected? Life, with its challenge’s rolls on day by day, but God’s purpose for us never changes. God never changes — balm for my soul.

This balm is what I want to pass on to you.

Isaiah 43:1–3a states, “But now, O Israel, the Lord who created you says: Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the lord your god, the Holy One of Israel, your savior.” (NLT)

When I read this, I felt the warm hand of God on my shoulder. Comfort seeped down throughout my body, quelling the tremors of worry and anguish. This has enabled me to refocus my life on working toward the future I want, versus the future I fear.

My Creator says to not be afraid for He has ransomed me. This is my bedrock; I have been redeemed. My future is set. He even knows my name. This comforts me. Heaping more blessings upon this, He tells me when I have trouble in my life, He will not let me go through it alone. I can lean on Him and experience calmness and quiet strength knowing His promise. When life is difficult and I cannot find solutions on my own, He is there to guide me in His will. When I am oppressed, kept from an abundant life by an uncaring world, He is there showing me His way.

Since the first covenant with Abraham, God has reminded us of His love for us. He wants the absolute best for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Open your heart and let God in; experience the peace that passes all understanding.
